Transforming Lives of the Incarcerated
We’re honored to share that Edhat, an award-winning online news publication serving Santa Barbara County, has featured the Freedom to Choose Project (FTC) in an article celebrating our 20 years of dedicated service: “State Assembly Honors ‘Freedom to Choose Project’ for 20 Years of Service.” This coverage acknowledges our commitment to empowering incarcerated individuals and highlights our recent recognition from the California State Assembly.
Since 2004, FTC has journeyed alongside thousands of incarcerated participants through programs focused on conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and positive choice-making to help them rediscover their potential—and people are taking notice.
The article includes a powerful statement from Assemblyman Gregg Hart, who presented the resolution, recognizing FTC’s work as transformative for incarcerated individuals, their families, and their communities:
“Freedom to Choose transforms lives, helping individuals become better neighbors through education, mentorship, and support.”
We are deeply grateful to Edhat for shedding light on our mission and the impact of our programs. This feature brings much-deserved attention to the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, staff, and participants who make our work possible.
